Today Hot News- The government today raised import duty on gold and silver to curb sales in India. With this revision, the import duty on gold has now shot up to 10% from the existing 8%. For silver, it is now 10% from 6% now. Also, excise duty on refined gold produced through processing of dore bar (ores) has been raised from 7% earlier to 9% now.
Today Stock Market- The S&P BSE Sensex witnessed a sharp rally and closed 283 points higher on the back of short coverings after the recent sharp correction.
Sensex- The 30-share index ended at 19,229.84, up 282.86 points or 1.49 per cent. It touched a high of 19,248.11 and a low of 18,864.81 in trade today.
Nifty- The Nifty ended at 5,699.30, up 86.90 points or 1.55 per cent. It touched a high of 5,704.75 and a low of 5,578.90 in trade today.
CNX Midcap is up 2.14% while the CNX Smallcap is up 1.99% All the sectoral indices, Auto, realty, Media, banks, service and technology stocks leading the up move.
