Today Stock Market- The CNX NSE Nifty extended for second straight session and closed at 5,612.40 on the back of gains in metals, healthcare, Auto, MNC, Infra and FMCG sectors. The index retreated from intraday high levels as profit booking continued in banks following disappointing results from PSU major State Bank of India.
The Nifty closed at 5,612.40, up 46.75 points or 0.84 per cent. It touched a high of 5,644.10 and a low of 5,557.10 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 18,946.98, up 157.64 points or 0.84 per cent. It touched a high of 19,066.97 and a low of 18,796.01 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 1.54 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index surged 1.56 per cent. Among the sectoral indices, the S&P BSE Metal Index surged 4.02 per cent, the S&P BSE Healthcare Index gained 1.96 per cent, the S&P BSE FMCG Index was up 1.90 per cent and the S&P BSE Capital Goods Index was 1.45 per cent higher.
