Sensex ends at Five-Month High, led by Reliance, Infosys

Key indices logged strong gains in a steady trading session of trade, this Monday, driven by upbeat global stocks boosting investors’ sentiment. 

The BSE Sensex advanced 276.86 points at 35,934.72. The NSE Nifty 50 gained 80.25 points at 10,852.90. Shares of index heavyweight Reliance Industries Limited gained, while shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) dropped. 

Investors shifted attention to June quarter earnings which started today with Dish TV India Ltd and Uttam Galva Steels. 

Asian Paints, Yes Bank, Dr. Reddy’s, Vedanta, HCL Tech led the rally for Nifty in today's session, while Ultratech Cement, TCS, Titan, HDFC and HetroMotor Corp fall. 

Shares of Reliance Industries gained 1.96% to Rs 995.65 whereas TCS dropped 1.34 percent to Rs 1,887.65. Tata Motors share advanced rose 0.81 percent at Rs. 273.35 after its JLR unit reported total retail sales of 52,049 vehicles in June 2018, up 0.9 percent on Year-on-Year basis. 

Shares of Bharat Forge advanced 2.72 percent at Rs, 650.50 after Deutsche Bank maintained its Buy call on the stock with a target price at Rs 830.

Closing Bell: Nifty Toppers of the Day, Stock Prediction for Tomorrow- 12 March

Benchmark closed mildly lower on Friday, with the Sensex ended lower by 44.43 points at 33,307.14 and the Nifty down by 15.8 points at 10,226.85. Investors kept on the sidelines due to want of clarity on the US tariff on steel & aluminium imports. Both indices shed 2.2% this week, in their second consecutive weekly fall. 

The stock of Reliance Communications shed 13.75 percent to a day’s bottom level of Rs 21.65 before settling down 9.76 percent at Rs 22.7 on NSE. 

Bank Nifty underperformed ending the session 0.74% lower. The Nifty PSU Bank stocks continued to register selling pressure plunging 1.81 percent Shares of Canara Bank and IDBI Bank seeing steep cuts of 6.25 percent and 5.48 percent respectively. 

More than 116 stocks which include Allahabad Bank, BEML Limited and United Bank of India hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE on Friday.  

Top Gainers and Losers on NSE: Tech Mahindra (up 2.30%), Bajaj Finance (up 1.83%), TCS (up 1.03%), Eicher Motors and Zee Entertainment up 1% each, as top gainers. On the other hand, top laggards include Tata Steel (-3.65%), Axis Bank (-2.60%), Adani Ports (-2.08%), YES Bank (-1.85%) Sun Pharma (-1.59%).

Sensex ends below 36-K mark, Nifty ends above 11-K, ahead of Budget

Indian shares declined for a second consecutive session as caution prevailed into the markets ahead of the Union Budget, due tomorrow, 1 Feb 2018. The BSE Sensex fell 68.71 points to 35,965.02, while the NSE Nifty 50 index fell 21.95 points to 11,027.70, as per closing data. 

Shares Infosys, ITC, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Steel, Larsen and Toubro, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy’s contributed mostly in the Sensex losses today, while an uptick in shares of Reliance, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank helped to cut the losses. 

Pharmaceutical shares declined to a great extent. Shares of Dabur India Ltd fell 1.17% to Rs. 354.35 after the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs. 332 crore in the Dec 2017 quarter. The other pharma company stocks that fell include Divi's Laboratories (down 4.46%), Dr Reddy's (down 3.75%), Cipla (down 3.15%), Strides Shasun (down 2.72%), Wockhardt (down 2.52%), Sun Pharma (down 2.02%) among others. 

Shares of Bharti Infratel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries rose 0.7 to 3%. On the other hand, shares of Tata Steel, HUL, Indiabulls HF, Sun Pharma, Infosys, Coal India, HCL Tech, ITC, TCS, Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Auto, lose the most. 

In Nifty-50 constituents, late rally witnessed in the heavyweights like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and Kotak Bank. Bank Nifty index and Nifty Financial Services were the major gainers while Nifty FMCG, Pharma and Metal index were the top losers.

Sensex ends at 36140, Nifty above 11,000 led by metal, PSU bank stocks

The Nifty on Tuesday settled 11-K mark, while the Sensex breached the 36-K level for the first time after an IMF report indicted India was set to regain the title as the world's fastest growing major economy in 2018-2019. 

The BSE Sensex closed higher by 341.97 points to 36,139.98, while the NSE Nifty-50 rose 117.50 points to close at 11,083.70. Both Sensex and Nifty posted record closing peaks for the fifth consecutive session as stellar earnings results boosted investor’s mood.

In Sensex pack, shares of SBI, Tata Steel, ONGC and ICICI Bank were major gainers, while Wipro, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Asian Paints were losers. 

Shares of ONGC continued to trade on a strong footing in today's trade and finished up by 3.7 percent after the company got approval from the govt for selling its stake in IOC & GAIL. 

On NSE constituents, Vedanta gains 5.21%, GAIL India up 4.5%, SBI up 3.93%, Hindalco rose 3.8% and Tata Steel edged up 3.73%, while Eicher Motors down 2.26%, Ambuja Cement down 2.18%, ZEEL slips 1.93%, Wipro falls 1.6% and Infratel edged lower by 1.37%

Sensex closes 106 points lower, Nifty at 10,370, PSU bank stocks fall

Indian shares ended slightly lower on Tuesday, weighed down by RIL and Infosys, with investors focused on Sept-quarter GDP data, due on Thursday. The BSE Sensex is down 105.85 points at 33,618.59, while the NSE Nifty is down 29.30 points at 10,370.25. 

Maruti Suzuki, BHEL, Indiabulls Housing and Zee TV gained the most, while NTPC, Bharti Infratel , Bharti Airtel and Aurobindo Pharma were the laggards. 

Jindal Drilling stock rose over 3 percent after the company has been awarded contract from ONGC. Bharat 22 ETF made a stellar debut on Tuesday on the BSE, as the open-ended ETF got listed at 36.30/unit on BSE. Sectorally, the BSE Telecom fell most followed by consumer durables, teck Resources and IT stocks. 

On the NSE, the Nifty PSU Bank slipped 1 percent whereas basic materials, finance, FMCG, auto and metal were trading in positive terrain. Among 1423 stocks traded on the NSE, 723 stocks advanced, 666 stocks declined, and 33 remained unchanged today.

Closing- Sensex recovers in last trade, Nifty up, Infosys falls

Market Closing update- The equity benchmark ended rangebound but session higher on Friday,helped by late rally. Sensex recovered in last trading session with the BSE Sensex closed higher 48.70 points or 0.16% at 31262.06, it was touched a high of 31,289.99 and touched a low of 31,087.28. The Nifty ends near record high closed up 21.00 points or 0.22% at 9668.25. it was touched a high of 9,676.25 and touch a low of 9,608.15. About 1375 shares advanced against 1296 shares declining shares on the BSE.

Sensex, Nifty close session with small losses ahead of Q4 GDP data

The benchmark Sensex and Nifty registered small losses in a lackluster trading session on profit booking since investors maintained cautious stance ahead of GDP data due later today. The BSE Sensex lost 13.60 points or 0.04% at 31,145.80, while the Nifty50 index declined 3.30 points or 0.03% at 9,621.25. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.94% and the BSE Small-Cap index advanced 1.05% outperforming the Sensex. There were about 1,375 advances against 1,294 declining shares on the BSE. 

Aviation stocks surged in the midst of decline in global crude oil prices. Inter Globe Aviation rose up 4.09%, SpiceJet advanced 4.39% and Jet Airways went up 3.91%.

Automobiles shares were in limelight with the BSE Auto and Nifty Auto index hitting their respective record highs in intra-day trade. 

M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Bharat Forge and Exide Industries from the auto index were up in the range of 1 to 4 percent. 

European/Asian stocks were mixed. US shares closed lower yesterday as investors adjusted key economic data, but a surge in tech stocks helped cap losses.

Markets end at all time highs; Nifty hits 9,400 for the first time ever

Investors rejoiced as benchmark indices settled the day at their respective closing highs with Nifty rising above 9,400 for the first time ever as IMD’s new prediction on monsoon  raised prospects of higher agricultural and economic growth. 

The BSE Sensex closed up 314.92 pts at 30,248.17, the NSE Nifty ended higher by 90.45 pts at 9, 407.30. There were 1,619 shares advancing, against a decline of 1,226 shares, and a total of 180 shares were unchanged. 

Telecom major Bharti Airtel gained 10%, was followed by Hindustan Unilever, which made a stellar move, while the FMCG touched its all-time high mark. 

Pharma, FMCG and auto indices gained over 1% on the Nifty, while the IT index was down by half a percent. HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever and Mahindra and Mahindra were the top gainers, while TCS, Wipro, ICICI Bank and Asian Paints lost the most.

Sensex,Nifty close at all time highs for 3rd straight session

The benchmark indices edged higher for third successive session, crossing the previous milestone it hit in March 2015,  amid positive cues from Asian market. The BSE Sensex, rose up 190.11 points or 0.63% to 30,133.35, while the NSE Nifty index up 45.25 points or 0.49% to 9,351.85. The market rally comes after a series of robust domestic quarterly results, while expectations for additional foreign inflows to India have improved on renewed optimism about the US economy. 

In the broader markets, the BSE Mid-Cap index declined 0.12%. The BSE Small-Cap index declined 0.63%, underperforming the Sensex. There were about 1,956 shares falling and 948 shares rising, and a total of 141 shares were unchanged. 

Mahindra & Mahindra rose 3.72% to Rs 1,356.20, surpassing gains triggered by the news that a foreign brokerage has upgraded the stock to outperform from neutral with bigger target price. M&M stock had advanced 3.4% to settle at Rs 1,307.50 last day. 

Other major gainers that aided the key indices were Axis Bank rise 0.44%, HDFC Ltd rose 0.62%, Tata Steel Ltd advanced 0.99% and ITC gained 2.04%

Market settles lower on profit booking; Nifty near 9200

The benchmark indices settled lower after rolling between gains and losses on Friday. The BSE Sensex, fell 26.92 points or 0.09% to 29,620.50. The Nifty 50 index ended flat at 9,173.75. Investors booked profits after gains in past three sessions. 

The BSE Mid-Cap index was up 0.79%, while the BSE Small-Cap index was currently up 0.72% outperforming the Sensex. These indices registered their second best performance in 7 years during financial year 2016-17. 

On BSE, 1,576 shares ascended and 951 shares descended and 210 shares were unchanged. 

Reliance Industries (RIL) rose 4.03% to Rs 1320.50 hitting a high and low of Rs 1,336 and Rs 1,268.95, respectively in intraday trade. Indian Oil Corp Ltd was the top percentage gainer, growing about 3.70%.

Sensex closes 89 points, Nifty closes above 9100

The benchmark indices registered modest gains in a volatile last trading session of the week. The BSE Sensex, rose 89.24 points or 0.3% to 29,421.40, The NSE Nifty50 index rose 21.70 points or 0.24% at 9,108. 

Gains on the exchanges were led by ICICI Bank, ITC and SBI. There were 760 advancing stocks against 867 declining stocks, and 296 stocks unchanged on NSE, reflecting bearish tone surfing in the market. BSE Mid-cap Index closed down by 0.03% at 13849 while BSE Small-cap Index closed up 0.3% at 14077. 

Bank of Baroda was the top Nifty gainer while Grasim was the top Nifty loser in today’s trading session. ITC gained 1.13% to Rs 281.05. ITC stock hit a high and low of Rs 283 and Rs 278.90 respectively in intraday trade.

Sensex gains 216 points higher, Nifty at 8963, Stock Nifty Trading Tips Tomorrow

The benchmark indices recorded modest gains as the GST Council in its meeting held on 4 March 2017, approved the draft CGST Bill and the draft IGST Bill. 

The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, rose 216 points at 29,048 at 29,057.95, while the Nifty50 index advanced 62.80 points at 8,963 levels. In the broader market, the BSE Midcap gained 0.6% and BSE Smallcap at 0.4%. 

About 1,503 shares advanced, 1,414 shares declined, and 176 shares were unchanged. Reliance (RIL), Tata Motors, Adani Ports, NTPC, SBI and Bharti Airtel were gainers among other, on S&P BSE Sensex, while Sun Pharma, TCS, Dr Reddy's and HUL were the top losers.

Sensex ends below 29,000, Nifty at 8,940 post Q3 GDP data

Key Benchmark indices closed higher after two-day consolidation on positive global cues and fair GDP data. The S&P BSE Sensex ended the day at 28,984.49, up 241 points, while the broader Nifty was ruling at 8,945.80, up 66.20 points.  In the broader market, the BSE Smallcap and BSE Midcap index gained 0.1% and 0.4%, respectively. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was strong. On BSE, 1,639 shares rose, 1,216 shares fell and a total of 197 shares were unchanged. 

Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy's Labs, ITC, Hindalco and Kotak Mahindra Bank rallied 2 to 3.6%, whereas NTPC, Tata Motors, GAIL, BHEL, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Eicher Motors were losers. 

BSE Realty index was the leading sectoral gainer, up 3.5% led by gains in Sobha rose 16%,  Unitech gained 7%, Oberoi Realty gained 5%. The Realty index has rallied 10% as the Budget day against the 4% rise in benchmark indices during the same period.

Weekly roundup of Stock during Feb. 20 to Feb 23, 2017:Sensex up for 5th consecutive week

The market ended positive for the fifth successive week, driven by a smart rally in stocks like TCS, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Reliance. Sectorally, all index closed higher, except BSE Power index which down 0.6%.  BSE Oil & Gas index surged 3%. The BSE Metal index gone up 2.2%, and the BSE Consumer Durables index, up 2.1%. Both the BSE Bankex and Realty gained 1.6% each while, BSE IT rallied 1.4%. BSE Telecom index gone up 1.4%. With Reliance Jio unleashing a price war by announcing this week to end its free offers by March 31. Bharti Airtel on Friday 24th, announced to acquire Telenor India. 

Among individual stocks, Reliance Industries advanced 11%, Axis Bank rose 7%, HDFC Bank up 5%, Asian Paints advanced 4% and Sun Pharma added 4%. Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Coal India jumped 3% each. 

Losers included NTPC going down 3%, Dr Reddy’s 1% down and Power Grid 0.8% down and M&M went down 0.6%. 

The minutes of the last Fed Open Market Committee meeting unveiled that the Fed officials are divided respecting interest rate increase. Looking ahead the next week,  Global cues will direct the market next week with U.S president Donald Trump likely to be announcing his tax plans.

Sensex rises 103 points, Nifty ends above 8,900, Stock Option calls tomorrow

The key benchmark indices paired some intraday gains in Wednesday’s volatile session of trade, closing higher for the sixth straight session. The BSE Sensex settling the day at 28,864, up 103 points, while the broader Nifty50 ended at 8,926, up 19 points. The broader market BSE Midcap & BSE Smallcap indices shed 0.6% each. The market breadth, showing the overall health of the market, turned negative from positive in afternoon trade. 

On the BSE, 1753 shares fell and 1,088 shares rose. A total of 192 shares were unchanged. There were 551 advancing stocks, 1091 declining stocks and 271 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting the strong negative undertone in the market. 

A surge in index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) contributed to a large extent, 11.24% to Rs. 1,210.55. Most IT stocks declined. Indian stocks gained for fifth day in a row today, 22 Feb 2017.

Weekly Stock Market Snapshots: 30 Jan-3 Feb, 2017, Nifty Future Calls Tomorrow

The Key Benchmark indices edged higher in 3 out of 5 trading sessions during the week ended Friday, 3 Feb 2017. Investors extended a positive look to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's Union Budget 2017-18, which focused on exciting growth to economy. The BSE Small-Cap & Mid-Cap indices outperformed the Sensex during the week. The Sensex grew up 358.06 pts or 1.28% to settle at 28,240.52. The Nifty 50 index rose 99.70 pts or 1.15% to settle at 8,740.95. 

The week’s first day, Monday 30 Jan, started on a lackadaisical note as the key benchmark indices logged small losses on the day. The Sensex fell 32.90 pts or 0.12% to settle at 27,849.56, its lowest closing level since 25 January. 

Key benchmark indices plunged on Tuesday, (31 Jan) led by slide in IT stocks on qualms over US President Trump's immigration policy. The Sensex lost 193.60 points or 0.70% to settle at 27,655.96, its lowest closing level since 24 Jan 2017. 

The indices surged on Wednesday, (1 Feb) to 485.68 points or 1.76% to settle at 28,141.64, and the investors cheered seeing the stimulating growth of Union Budget. Buying was triggered since there was no say of long-term capital gains tax in the budget speech. Key indices made a little go a long way on Thursday, 2 Feb 2017, as the Union Budget presented on 1 Feb 2017, focused a range of stimulating growths. 

The Sensex rose 84.97 points or 0.30% to settle at 28,226.61 as a highest closing level. The weekend Friday, as a volatile trading day, the Sensex rose 13.91 points or 0.05% to settle at 28,240.52, its highest closing level since 4 October 2016.

Sensex up 174 pts, Nifty posts biggest weekly gain 

The market Friday has settled on higher note extending gains for the fourth day consecutive days, as investors remain cheerful ahead of the Union Budget next week. The Sensex closed up 174.32 points or 0.6% at 27882.46, and the Nifty was up 38.50 points or 0.4% at 8641.25. Nifty claimed its biggest weekly gains since May 27, supported by gains in banking and financial stocks. In the broader market, the BSE Midcap rallied 0.6%  and BSE Smallcap rose 0.5%  

About 1401 shares have advanced, while 1387 shares declined, and 288 shares are unchanged. 

BHEL, Bharti, ICICI Bank, NTPC and SBI were majour contributors while ITC, Wipro, Lupin, Tata Motors and HUL were losers in the Sensex.

Stock Market Weekly commentary thorough 2 January–6 January 2017

The domestic benchmark Nifty index concluded first week of the New Year, 2017 on a positive note. The Indian stock markets finished the weekend marginally lower, when the BSE Sensex closed lower by 119 points, it added 0.05% overall to settle 26759, whereas the NSE Nifty finished lower by 30 points, added 0.07% close the week at 8243. Both Midcap & Smallcap stocks rose by 2.4% and 3.2% respectively. 

A mixed rally in auto, metal and bank stocks helped the key benchmark indices score modest gains on the ultimate trading day of the week. Indian shares reversed the past week’s robust gains. Market sentiments were dented following higher oil prices, weak domestic industrial production data and increasing possibility of a delay in the implementation of GST. 

In the upcoming week, market players will be seeing at CPI and IIP figures, the figures of both have reasonable economic impact and helps in assessing present economic situation. An accelerating global reflation is being viewing ahead. 

Oil and gold prices moved higher last week, while U.S. consumer confidence reached a 15-year high. Fed Reserve meeting minutes released this week may provide clues about future monetary policy in the U.S. 

Government may keep on interest subsidy for exporters in the Budget. The Finance Ministry is expected to continue 3% interest subsidy scheme for exporters in the approaching Budget with a view to help them tide over the hard global trade environment.  

Many banks and housing finance companies lowered their lending rates to facilitate for cheaper home and corporate loans. Bank of India, Corporation Bank Punjab & Sind Bank reduced their MCLR upto 9%. Also, the home loan rates for women will be lowered 5 bps.
